Teletext Holidays (Truly Travel) allowed personal details for over 200,000 customers to be exposed in a security breach in 2016. The data, in the form of voice recordings was held on an unprotected Amazon Web Services server related to customer calls made from 10th April to 10th August 2016. The call recording range in duration from a few minutes to up to an hour. Teletext holidays has since conducted a full security audit of its data storage facilities to ensure that it is fully compliant with data protection regulations. Due to the length of time that the data was exposed the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) deemed it unnecessary for the incident to be formally reported as a breach.
